Bourton-on-the-Water, a river meanders
down the main street under low bridges and beside trees and lawns.
Upper and Lower Slaughter
are unspoilt villages with an Elizabethan Manor House and tiny cottages
lining the river bank. Stow-on-the-Wold
is a charming hill-top town that contains many antique shops.
Chipping Campden, a
town made rich by the wool industry, features a fine Jacobean market
hall. Great Tew presents a traditional
picture of rural England, with its rows of beautifully preserved
17th century thatched cottages.
