Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle, near LondonThis imposing fortress overlooking the River Thames was begun in wood by William the Conqueror. See St George's Chapel, one of the most perfect examples of 15th-16th century Gothic work in Europe, the State Apartments which contain a priceless art collection and Queen Mary's Dolls' House, designed by Lutyens on a 1/12 scale of Buckingham Palace.


Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court PalaceThis red-brick riverside palace was one of Henry VIII's favourite residences where he often played 'real' tennis or jousted. Five of his wives lived here and the ghosts of two of them are said to haunt the palace! The beautiful gardens are similar to those at Versailles.


Greenwich

Tour lasts 4 hours

This is where East meets West - the site of zero longitude (marked by a brass strip in the ground). Visit the sumptuous Royal Apartments in the Queens' House now restored to its 17th century glory and see the Cutty Sark the last rigged sailing clipper on the river-front. At Greenwich, you'll also find the historic Naval College, and the massive Millennium Dome.

Hatfield House

Tour lasts 4 hours

This most outstanding example of Jacobean architecture, contains Staterooms full of world-famous paintings, furniture and rare tapestries. In the gardens is the surviving part of the Royal Palace (1497) where Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood.
